Membership Meeting #2

Our next membership meeting on February 9th from 4:30 to 5:30pm in Hartford GBLC Room 301 and will also be broadcast via Skype. 

Can’t make it in person? Skype into our next meeting! That’s right! We should be able to record it to post later for those who miss it, but no promises as it’s untested. We hope this streaming effort can bring our members from other campuses together. Yes, plans are still in place to have membership meetings on other campuses in the future.

Agenda:

  • Share survey data (1st survey & 2nd survey – see below)
  • Finish mission statement
  • Create 2016 activities list priorities
  • Accepting email applications to current open club positions: VP of Communications in Hartford & VP of Communications in Stamford
  • Discuss new club positions and/or committees by activity
  • Brief overview of our new UConn-based website
  • Brief touch on Blogging & Digital Marketing Strategy (great resume items for club involvement)
  • Upcoming Opportunities
  • Schedule next meeting

Please try to get this survey finished before the meeting, as I’d like to discuss the new activities data at this meeting.

The new survey consists of questions about available meeting times, meeting locations vs Skype, companies of interest to visit/network with, polling on the best version of a mission statement for the club and another look at activities because the results from the first survey were, in some cases, conflicting (obviously a design flaw on my part).

The reason I am continuing to survey everyone to get feedback at our planning stages is that I strongly feel independent opinions foster a culture of candid collaboration. Of course, we’ll continue to contribute as a group through meetings and activities in a team environment, but I truly want to make sure everyone who is a part of this club gets a chance to have their voice heard. Completing this survey will lead to a faster meeting too, as we have a large agenda.

All current members will get an email about 10 minutes before the meeting starts with the Skype link to join in. Please make sure you’ve setup a Skype account before the meeting and have tested it. I will also send out job descriptions for our two VP of Communications positions in that email.
