Matthew is a first-year MBA candidate with four years of successful experience building and and managing comprehensive performing arts organizations. The Connecticut native has served since 2013 as Executive Director of both the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and Connecticut Lyric Opera (the state’s largest opera company). He has also served since 2012 as Artistic Director of the Friends of Music at Emanuel (a regional chamber music series). A conservatory-trained pianist and classical guitarist, Matthew previously worked as a freelance musician, music teacher, and church music director. Matthew holds an undergraduate degree in music from the Hartt School at the University of Hartford, and a professional certificate in Accounting and Taxation from the Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford.

My name is Luciani Flecha and I am currently and Part-time MBA student. I also work full time with the City of Hartford in the IT department. I’ve always had a passion to learn more about the Entertainment industry, being caught up with movies, television shows, sports, and the whole aspect that takes place in production. Overall, not much Entertainment and Media in the Hartford area, more so in the Stamford, I was happy to hear of a group near me that share the same interests in Entertainment.

A cool privilige I had was attending a Warner Bros Studio Tour in Burbank, CA two years ago. I got to see how tv shows and movies were made and how they had production set up to deliver the details of what is being film. I am an engineer in the automobile industry by profession and an artist by passion and would like to be able to incorporate a blend of analytics and creativity into business. I have some experience in supply chain, logistic management, competitor bench-marking and cost reduction analysis. However, I think it is time i try to align my passion with my career. I am looking at building a career in the luxury merchandise industry. (beauty industry in particular- though not very sure of the job role yet). The beauty industry plays a major role in Media/entertainment, or rather has a close link to it, because it is an industry delivering products and services that allow us to present ourselves visually the way we want to. So this would be a great opportunity for me to understand the kind of environment I’d likely be working in at some point. Also, as I mentioned, I am trained classical singer and am absolutely passionate about music, this would also be an opportunity for me to explore the business aspects of the music industry as a second plan of action. I also believe that with my analytical background, the business education and involvement with innovative initiatives like GEMA, I’d be able to achieve my goals successfully.

Prior to joining MS BAPM program in spring 2016, I was working with cognizant for six years as a software developer. I am eager to shift my career into a more fun filled field of analytics in media and entertainment.
